Human Body is a chariot (Ratham) mind is driver, five sense organs ( Jandriyas are controlling ropes) and Five Karmendriyas are horses, the one who firmly seated on the chariot is atma.

“Seeryati ithi sareeram”

The one which is destroyed continuously is called Sareer (Physical body), Sukshma Sareer (subtle body) called "Purvot panna" as it is created through tanmantras in the beginning.

(Rudimentary or subtle elements )Five sense perceptions (Hearing, Touch, Sight, Taste, Smells)

Compared to physical body's life span Subtle body is eternal hence this moves in many forms of living beings. It is so subtle it can pass through even smallest atom

But it's incapable of experiencing material object without the help of physical body. when death occurs naturally Subtle body leaves the Physical body and physical body Start to Decay

Death are taken place through physical body for the attainment of Bhoga and Apawarga (Absolution)
